Registration Information

Thank you for your interest in registering for PARASOL EMT to deliver training for your centre. PARASOL EMT has been awarded the contract to provide first aid training for ABC for the next five years.

Please read the following information and then click on the registration link found at the bottom of this page.

The training is nationally accredited and the courses available are:

  • Apply First Aid - This is funded for 3 staff in your centre that are required under legislation to hold this qualification. For example, a Group Leader who opens or shuts the centre would meet these criteria for funding. If you require more than 3 staff at your centre to do this course we require an email from your Area Manger with the names of extra staff they are approving, their KRONOS identification and the centre they are attached too.

Please note this course is also free to Certificate lll students enrolled at NIECE and funded under the MBA (Employer Funded).

We will cluster 4-5 centres to run a course which is normally run on a Saturday for a full day.

Pre-course eLearning is required to be completed prior to attendance on the day.

  • Provide Basic Emergency Life Support (Level 1) - This training is run annually and funded for all centre staff.

We will cluster 2-3 centres to run a course which normally runs on a weeknight in place of your staff meeting for 2 hours.

This course covers the following aspects:
    • CPR
    • Choking
    • Anaphylaxis
    • Asthma
    • Epilepsy/febrile convulsions
    • Other subjects as required

Pre-course eLearning is required to be completed prior to attendance on the evening.

Please note: This covers the requirements for a CPR refresher.

  • Anaphylaxis - This is a online course that requires approval from your area manager. This course is normally undertaken where a child has anaphylaxis and urgent training is required.

Please note: Anaphylaxis is covered in both the above courses.

FAQ's

Is all First Aid Training free to all of my staff?

The Provide Basic Emergency Life Support course is required training and free to every staff member yearly.

The Apply First Aid course is free to 3 approved staff from your centre. These staff are usually the Centre Director and Group Leaders (who are opening and/or closing the centre), or whatever is required in your state to meet legislative requirements. For clarification as to who the approved staff at your centre are, please contact your Area Manager.
Please note this course is also free to Certificate lll students enrolled at NIECE and funded under the MBA (Employer Funded).

Casuals who work in excess of 15hrs/week are also entitled to funded training.

The online anaphylaxis course requires approval from your Area Manager. This training is already being provided free to all staff in the Provide Basic Emergency Life Support yearly(it is also covered in Apply First Aid) and hence the requirement for extra expenditure at your centre to be pre-approved.

I am a casual, am I eligible for this training?

Any staff who work for 15 hours or more a week will be covered by the current arrangement for their first aid even if they are employed through 123 Careers.

What does each course involve?

The Provide Basic Emergency Life Support course involves a small eLearning component which must be completed prior to attending the training session. The face-to-face training runs for approximately 2hrs during your staff meetings and consists of skills stations in CPR, choking, EpiPen administration, Ventolin (via a spacer) administration and the management of febrile convulsions. There is a small multiple choice assessment to be completed.

Senior First Aid involves a larger amount of eLearning (completed prior to the training session). The face-to-face training runs for 8 hours on a Saturday. It consists of skills stations in CPR, choking, EpiPen administration, Ventolin (via a spacer), Fractures, Bleeding Control, Burns, Bites & Stings and AED familiarisation.

How will training be scheduled?

We will be scheduling training by areas up to 12 months in advance. This training schedule will allow those who cannot attend the allocated course to attend another course in a nearby centre. Following the initial scheduling we will do a five year calendar for each centre.

What is eLearning?

This is a fun and interactive way of doing your pre-course learning. It is conducted online and each staff member will be provided a link to our online learning site with a unique user identification and password. The beauty of eLearning is that you can answer questions at the click of a button instead of having to complete a written workbook. The learning is broken up into small sections to allow staff to come and complete a learning module in 5-10 minutes and then go back to doing their work.

The eLearning component for Provide Basic Emergency Life Support takes anywhere from 45 mins to 1.5 hrs and around 1.5 to 3 hrs for Senior First Aid.

Do I need to complete my eLearning component before my training date?

Yes you are required to complete all of your eLearning prior to attending your scheduled course. You will need to bring a print out of your eLearning result, which is the last step in the course.

How many attempts do I get to complete the eLearning?

As many as you require. This is competency based learning. To complete each module you need to have a result of 80% or greater.

Can I access the eLearning from my home computer?

Yes you can. If you have access to the internet from your home computer all you will need to do is type the following web address in: www.parasolemt.com.au/lmse/abc

If I am enrolled in Apply (Senior) First Aid do I still need to complete the Provide Emergency Care?

No you are not required. However, you will be able to complete the Provide Emergency Care annually to maintain your CPR currency and also to review your basic care skills. Hence the benefit of training your staff all at the same time.

How often am I required to refresh these skills?

Provide Basic Emergency Life Support lasts one year and all of your staff will be funded to re-do this annually

Apply First Aid lasts three years with annual CPR refresher required (this is covered in the Provide Emergency Care course)

Are my qualifications Nationally Accredited?

Yes they are. You will be issued upon successful completion of your course, a Nationally Accredited Certificate.
